From the Lab to the Limelight
Born in Nairobi to a family whose roots stretch from India to the railways of East Africa, Shiksha Arora grew up with two things flowing in her veins: a love of movement and a hunger to tell stories. She started dancing at age five. She started studying microbiology at university. And somewhere between the lab and the radio booth, she discovered that the most powerful science she could practise was the science of human connection — live, on air, in front of the whole country.
After earning a Masters in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Westminster in London — where she cut her teeth at the BBC and Smoke FM — Shiksha returned to Kenya and built one of the most distinctive careers in East African media. She has anchored news at East FM, K24, KBC, and now TV47. But it was in July 2021 that the world properly met her: a dancing news anchor on TikTok, bringing joy to a newsroom and to millions of screens worldwide.
Today, Shiksha is more than a journalist. She is an award-winning anchor, an Emcee and event moderator, a content creator with over 1.5 million TikTok followers, a brand ambassador for companies including Samsung, Fanta, and Shell Kenya, and a philanthropist whose "Dance for a Cause" project channels her passion into purpose. She is the anchor who dances, the journalist who laughs, and the media personality who made millions of Kenyans feel seen.
